Microsoft Xbox One Hardware Upgraded Months Before Launch (PICTURES)

Microsoft Just Upgraded The Xbox One (A Bit)

The Xbox One just got a tiny bit better.

Nope, it's not another U-turn. Microsoft has simply shared that the graphical processor inside the machine has been turned up, slightly, from 800MHz to 853Mhz.

In practical terms that means the machine can execute instructions quick than before, potentially leading to gradually and marginally improved performance.

The news came in an interview by Larry Hyrb, a spokesman for Microsoft, with Xbox One chief Marc Whitten.

According to VentureBeat, Whitten said that the team was initially too pessimistic about the capabilities of their hardware. He added that Microsoft staffers already have beta units of the device in their homes, and that more games are gradually reaching their final versions ahead of release in (probably) November.

"It’s a super exciting time, this is when we’ve gone from all the specs and these arguments over the last several years to having the product and really starting to try the product internally," he said.

"We’re running our internal beta and using it at home and starting to see the product really come together."

It's also been confirmed that Microsoft has added a specialised graphics driver - a "mono driver" - into the box, which is an optimised version of DirectX.

Of course we'll have to wait until a few months from now to put it through it's paces. The Xbox One will cost £399 and come with an included Kinect Camera.
