One Direction 'This Is Us' Film Screening Causes 'Stampede' In The States

One Direction Stampede

Police were reportedly called to a preview screening of One Direction movie This Is Us after frenzied fans caused a stampede at the cinema.

Fans started queueing outside the Grove Pacific Theatres in Los Angeles at 4am for a 10am preview of the British boyband's new documentary film, and when staff opened the doors, they were unable to control the hundreds of fans flooding in, the Daily Mirror reported.

Mother Lizette Van Patten told the Los Angeles Times: "They charged and went straight past the ticket takers screaming, 'Let us in! Let us in!'

"It took about a half an hour before a police car came with two policemen in it. They started palming kids down and shoving them outside."

1D fan Allysa Mae De Guzman, 16, said: "When I got inside, the red ropes that block the entrance to the theatre were on the floor. It was pretty scary because people were tripping on the floor and pushing."

A member of staff from the cinema confirmed there are now plans to hire extra security when This Is Us is released later this month.

They added: "They're talking about paramedics too, because we had some girls who were shaking and crying so much they were hyperventilating.

"The management reckon this will roll out across the nation."

This Is Us opens in UK cinemas on August 29.
