A woman has died following a double shooting, police said.
Armed officers were called to Willenhall Street in Newport, Gwent, at 8.45am to a report of what sounded like gunshots.
They found the 46-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man in a serious condition. Both were taken to Royal Gwent Hospital with serious injuries.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said: "The 46-year-old female has since died and the 49-year-old male remains in surgery at this time. It is not believed anyone else is involved in the incident and both of those involved were known to each other.

"Officers are supporting family members at this time. Willenhall Street remains cordoned off for police to carry out inquiries."
