England look set to face Germany in a friendly next month as part of their World Cup preparations.

The Football Association (FA) had been planning a November fixture in the event England would automatically qualify for Brazil 2014, which was secured with victory over Poland on Tuesday.

Club England managing director Adrian Bevington confirmed on Wednesday England expect to play Germany at Wembley on 19 November, four days after another friendly, which will also take place at the national stadium.

It is thought either Australia or Argentina could be the visitors to London.

"We are pretty well advanced (in negotiations for the November friendlies)," Bevington said in a joint interview with the BBC and Al-Jazeera.

"I expect to be in a position in the next 24 hours to confirm one of them. I don't think it is any great secret that we are expecting to play Germany in the second of the two games next month.

"We had been looking to play Uruguay in the first game, but they are now in the play-offs so we are now speaking with other opponents."

Denmark were also touted as possible friendly opponents, and that fixture will be staged in March next year.

The last time England faced Germany they were battered 4-1 in the last 16 of the 2010 World Cup in Bloemfontein.

A match infamous for Frank Lampard's ghost goal, England's lucklessness was overshadowed by a superb German performance.

Germany last played at Wembley in August 2007, when they beat their hosts 2-1.
