iPad Mini Supplies Will Be 'Ridiculously Tight' Analyst Tells Telegraph

It looks like the new iPad Mini is a hit - so much so that you might not actually be able to buy one.

According to one analyst quoted by the Telegraph Apple has only be able to ship about a third as many Minis as last year.

The result could be that demand far outstrips supply in the crucial run-up to Christmas.

Rhoda Alexander, director of tablet research at IHS electronis and media, told the Telegraph:

"The supply of the Retina Mini is going to be ridiculously tight in the fourth quarter. Apple's 2013 iPad shipment growth is shaping up to be comparatively modest and the shift in launch cycles has played a major role in the slowdown."

The Mini is set to launch "later in November" according to Apple, compared to a 1 November launch for the new iPad Air.

It is thought that Apple is refusing to be more specific so that it can boost supplies as much as possible before the launch.

The new Mini starts at £319 in the UK - you can find more details at our post about the launch here.
