There's no busier time of year for online shopping than the pre-Christmas buyathon. So when there's word that Amazon is considering starting deliveries on Sundays, well we have to get excited.

And it looks like it could actually happen.

Dave Clark, Amazon's vice president of world-wide operations, has told the Wall Street Journal that Sunday deliveries will start in London, on a trial basis, from later this month.

Clark said Amazon would use its own fleet of trucks for the deliveries, though didn't give details about the extent of the pilot or when it might be extended across the country.

The news follows an announcement by Amazon has that it would launch Sunday deliveries in parts of the US.

Amazon said that it will start Sunday deliveries in LA and New York, for members of Amazon Prime. It said it will work with the US postal service on the deliveries and look to roll out the service in more areas from 2014, with Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and Phoenix on the slate.

"If you're an Amazon Prime member, you can order a backpack for your child on Friday and be packing it for them Sunday night," said Clark.

"We're excited that now every day is an Amazon delivery day and we know our Prime members, who voraciously shop on Amazon, will love the additional convenience they will experience as part of this new service."
