Muslim Brotherhood Supporters Storm SOAS London University Lecture On Egypt (VIDEO)

WATCH: Muslim Brotherhood Supporters Storm University Lecture On Egypt

Protesters supporting the Muslim Brotherhood stormed a lecture at a London university as a guest speaker delivered a talk on the challenges faced by Egypt.

The lecturer Mohamed El-Nabawy was forced from the stage by the protesters, who unrolled Muslim Brotherhood flags and started chanting at Bloomsbury's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). The event was held in October but the footage has only just emerged online.

The group reportedly targeted the discussion over El-Nabawy's ties to the anti-Morsi Tamorod group, according the Evening Standard.

A spokesman for the university’s Palestinian Society, which organised the event, said: “While we fully respect, and understand, the highly-charged context of any discussion on contemporary Egyptian politics, we believe that the disruptions pre-empted any possibility of fruitful exchange.

“We apologise to our guests for any distress these events may have caused, and thank the SOAS staff for their cooperation and support.”

The guests at the lecture were led to safety by security guards

A spokesperson for SOAS told The Huffington Post UK: “Unfortunately, given the repeated disruptions of the panel by audience members, SOAS Palestine Society was compelled to call for the premature termination of the event."

The university said it was "proud" of its students for engaging in contemporary issues and was disappointed on their behalf that the talk was disrupted.
