Microsoft has quietly increased the cost of its exclusive Xbox One launch games on its digital store.

Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5 and Ryse: Son of Rome all originally cost £44.99 at launch, but VG247 have noticed that the price has now risen to £49.99.

Microsoft has confirmed that the prices for "select digital content" are subject to variations.

In a statement to VG247 Microsoft said:

"Yes, pricing for select digital content in some markets has changed since launch. Digital content pricing is subject to change and we may occasionally offer various deals or promotions. Ultimately pricing and promotions will vary by region"

The price rises only apply to Microsoft's own games, and not third-party titles as far as we can see. The move follows Sony's own explanation for the relatively high prices of digital games compared to boxed versions.
