Police Being Murder Probe After Woman, 61, Dies At Home

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found strangled to death in her south-west London flat.

Police said ambulance crews called them to a flat in Chilworth Court in Windlesham Grove just after 1pm on Tuesday.

Anna Maria Thomas, 61, was found dead at the scene.

A 33-year-old man was arrested later on Tuesday on suspicion of murder. He has since been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

A post-mortem, conducted at St George's Hospital Mortuary on Thursday, gave the cause of death as "compression of the neck", Metropolitan Police said.

An inquest into Ms Thomas' death will be launched.

People who knew Ms Thomas are asked to contact police to help with the investigation.
