The ex-US basketball player Dennis Rodman will not raise the purge and execution of Kim Jong Un's uncle as he prepares to make his second trip to the country, for "fun not politics".

Rodman, who has previously described Kim as his "friend for life", will visit the hermit nation on a five-day trip. The US government has stressed he is most certainly not a representative of theirs.

Jang Song-thaek was executed last week, accused of plotting against hte state. Rodman told Reuters: "I mean, whatever his uncle has done, and whoever's done anything in North Korea, I have no control over that.

"I mean, these things have been going on for years and years and years.

"I'm just going over there to do a basketball game and have some fun."
