Leslie Phillips Marries For Third Time Aged 89

Ding Dong! British Film Favourite Weds Wife No.3 At 89

Leslie Phillips has said "Well, helloooo..." to a third wife, at the age of 89.

The comedy film favourite has married his new wife Zara, who is in her fifties, and revealed that he was prompted to walk down the aisle a third time, following the death of his friend Peter O'Toole last weekend.

The Sun revealed that the Carry On star was due to meet O'Toole that day. He said, "I realised I don't have much time and want to make the most of it.

“Zara is a wonderful woman, who not only looks good but has an amazing brain. I love her very much.”

The couple married in front of friends and family at London's Mayfair Library on Friday.

Leslie Phillips - who has appeared in more than 150 films during a career lasting more than 70 years, including most recently the final 'Harry Potter' blockbuster - has been married twice before. He continued to care for his first wife Penny after she had a stroke, despite their divorce in 1965. He suffered tragedy two years ago when his second wife Angela took her own life, following a cancer diagnosis.

A huge happy Christmas to one of British film's great enduring stars, and his new bride!
