Sir Alex Ferguson Leaves Manchester United Behind For Barbados And Russ Abbott

No Distraction For United As Fergie Heads to Barbados

As Manchester United slammed the brakes on their poor form with a comprehensive defeat of Swansea, their ex-boss also stropped talk of distractions - by jetting off to Barbados.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been a regular sight at United games this season, leading to much talk that he is a distraction for the poor performing players. However, after the 2-0 win against Swansea on Saturday, Darren Fletcher said the Scot's presence had "no bearing on anything", adding that "It gets us angry because we know it is not true".

Well, Fergie made sure such chatter stopped - for now, at least - when he jetted off to Barbados with a group of friends that included comedian Russ Abbott as well as a number of ex-United players such as Bryan Robson and Norman Whiteside.

The holiday is believed to be part of family celebrations and means Sir Alex will also miss Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony, in which he has been nominated for the coach of the year award.
