This time last year French Gérard Depardieu was applying for Russian citizenship in order to avoid a tax for millionaires in his home country.

In 2014, reports suggest he may be hoping to entice such wealthy individuals to fly on his new airline: Cyran R: (pronounced "See-ran air").

The star of films such as Green Card, who lives in the Belgian village of Wallonia, bordering France, has registered his very own airline, Cyran’R -- amusingly named after his first major screen character, Cyrano de Bergerac.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the star of Asterix and Obelix registered Cyran’R last November as a private limited liability company.

Belgian newspaper L'Echo reports that the aircraft will be based at the Lesquin airport, outside of Lille close to the actor's home and could serve to carry passengers as well as commercial cargo.

Depardieu has long enjoyed the thrill of commerce as well as acting, with business interests in wine, real estate, restaurants and hotels.
