For all their good work this season, Liverpool have an identical record to a team they slaughtered 5-0 and who are now managed by Tim Sherwood. Something must be done about that, and the Reds could bid for Basel's excellent Egyptian Mohamed Salah.

The 21-year-old, who scored at home and away against Chelsea in the Champions League, is valued at a knockdown £12 million by the Swiss side, say the Telegraph.

Salah could complement the Reds' forward line of Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suárez, should Brendan Rodgers wish to drop one of his three midfielders, or, more logically, Steven Gerrard, and opt for a bolder system.

The Reds are also keen on Fulham's Swedish forward Muamer Tanković, 18, add the Sun. The teenager's contract runs out in the summer.

The Telegraph adds Paris Saint-Germain will bid Newcastle £26m for Yohan Cabaye, which is roughly twice as much what Arsenal offered in the summer.

A likely starter for France at the World Cup, the 28-year-old midfielder has scored 26 goals for the Magpies - five of which have come in his last seven games. PSG are on the lookout for midfield reinforcements, with Blaise Matuidi yet to ink a new deal and Marco Verratti a target for Real Madrid.

File this one under "unlikely", but Sam Allardyce is keen on bringing Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen to leaky West Ham.

The Belgian remains the Gunners' skipper, but lost his place in Arsène Wenger's side a year ago. Any injury to Per Mertesacker or Laurent Koscielny would see him return to the first-team fold, though.

Neil Taylor can't seem to regain the left-back slot at Swansea since his awful ankle injury last season, and the Times claim Fulham have submitted a £4m bid for the one-time Olympian.

Taylor, who was scouted by Manchester United 18 months ago, is second choice behind compatriot Ben Davies at the Liberty Stadium. Fulham coach René Meulensteen fielded Kieran Richardson as an auxiliary left-back at Arsenal on Saturday.

Diego López is still the number one goalkeeper at Real Madrid, and his superb form over the past year has seen him linked with Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, Bild write.
