Sir Alex Ferguson And Mick Hucknall Hold Back The Tears As Manchester United Lose

Holding Back The Tears: Fergie Watches United Lose Alongside Hucknall

Rather than spend time at home with Lady Cathy, Sir Alex Ferguson was in the stands to watch Manchester United lose again and was holding back the tears alongside Simply Red's Mick Hucknall at Chelsea.

"I've wasted all my tears, wasted all those years," Fergie might have remarked to the singer, as United were beaten 3-1 by the Blues.

"If you don't know me by now," the Scot possibly added, "Money's too tight." United's lack of investment under their owners, the Glazer family, means they are now 14 points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Without Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, there were few stars on display for the champions at Stamford Bridge.

Plenty of United fans, so not over Ferguson, have seen enough and are urging his successor, David Moyes, to go now.
