Apple has marked the 30th anniversary of the Macintosh computer with a lovely and pretty heartfelt little video and a pair of beautiful, responsive infographics.
The Mac was released on 24 January 1984, and while it was not an immediate financial success it helped to redefine the style and mechanics of modern personal computers.
Apple's Senior VP of marketing added his own tribute to proceedings on Twitter, a day after stating that Apple had no plans to fully merge iOS and OS X.
"Every company that made computers when we started the Mac, they’re all gone… We’re the only one left. We’re still doing it, and growing faster than the rest of the PC industry because of that willingness to reinvent ourselves over and over."
"There is a super-important role [for the Mac] that will always be. We don’t see an end to that role. There’s a role for the Mac as far as our eye can see. A role in conjunction with smartphones and tablets, that allows you to make the choice of what you want to use. Our view is, the Mac keeps going forever, because the differences it brings are really valuable."
