Kevin Pietersen England Future: Should ECB Drop Batsman? (POLL)

Should England Ditch Pietersen? (POLL)

England land back on home soil on Monday night with several issues to clarify ahead of the World Twenty20 tournament next month.

Limited overs coach Ashley Giles will meet with new England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) managing director Paul Downton this week to confirm the touring party for the Caribbean, with Kevin Pietersen likely to dominate the exchange.

Pietersen has come under fire again following Andy Flower's dismissal as team director last week. The duo's relationship soured to the extent Flower reportedly issued the ECB with an ultimatum they drop Pietersen, who has caused tension in the camp before.

Giles said England would look to name 16 players for the trip, which will be trimmed by a bowler for the World Twenty20. He would not be drawn, however, on whether Pietersen would be among those chosen.

Ultimately, Pietersen could be discarded along with Flower. His England future is under scrutiny following the Ashes whitewash and his inclusion, or absence, from the squad - to be named on Thursday - will offer clarity.

"There's a lot to talk about," Giles said. "There's more than one bloke to talk about and many positions in this side. You don't like guys living in fear but we've not played very good cricket here.

"There's always careers and jobs on the line whether it be coaching or playing."

Highly-respected former India and South Africa coach Gary Kirsten has already been linked with the vacant coach's role, and ex-Sri Lanka coach Tom Moody has also expressed an interest.
