A 25-year-old football fan has been charged after pages were torn from the Quran and thrown during a match.

The incident occurred during the Birmingham City and Middlesbrough game at St Andrew's on December 7.

West Midlands Police said they had today charged Mark Stephenson with causing racial or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress.

Stephenson, of Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury, will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on February 28.
