The English county of Somerset, perhaps best known for its spectacular hills, has been blighted by flooding in recent days, with the area known as the Levels - more than 160,000 acres of moorland on the sparsely populated coastal plain - submerged under water.
Sixteen severe flood warning are currently in place for the south of England, and with more rain forecast, the torment for the country’s besieged families looks set to continue. This group of aerial shots show the full horror of the flooding affected the villages of Muchelney and Moorland, with residents and workers battling to save houses from being overrun by the rising floods.
