Angela Merkel visited Jerusalem and spoke at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Tuesday.

As he pointed across the stage, Netanyahu accidentally gave the German Chancellor a moustache, not unlike the one famously worn by that German leader.

Another unfortunate juxtaposition of the photo showed the Israeli flag sandwiched between the two.

One version of the picture, by Jerusalem post photographer Marc Israel Sellem, is already going viral on Twitter.

But The Jerusalem Post have said they will not be running the unfortunate snap:

At the press conference, Merkel said she did not support boycotts of Israel but remarked that Germany was obliged to follow European Union guidelines on the labelling of goods produced in Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

She said that Iran was a potential threat not just to Israel, but also to European countries.

However, she refused to endorse Netanyahu's demands that Tehran give up all sensitive nuclear projects under any negotiated deal with world powers.
