YotaPhone With E-Book Reader On Back To Go On Sale In US

Yota Dual Screen Phone Now Available In US

An innovative smartphone with a regular screen and an E-Ink display o the back is to go on sale in the US for the first time.

The new model has a 5" colour screen and a 4.7", low-power E-Ink screen on the back, both touch-activated.

Designed to be 'always on', the smartphone lets users see information on their devices constantly - without having to wake up their phone. The idea is that you can browse to a map on Google Maps as normal, put your phone to sleep and then follow the 4.3-inch E-ink version of the map on the other side.

Yota Phone said the device would "never turn off" and would be less distracting than current mobiles.

Inside the device will be a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, powering.

It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and has 4G LTE, as well as an 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Experts described the phone as an "ambitious concept" but said it would struggle to be seen as more than a gimmick by most users.

There is no word yet on a UK release date.
