NEW YORK -- Actor Seth Rogen gave a funny yet touching speech to Congress on Wednesday to highlight the lack of funding for Alzheimer’s disease in the US. The 31-year-old appeared on Capitol Hill because his mother-in-law, Adele Miller, suffers from the degenerative condition, with the Knocked Up star hoping to convince Washington politicians to provide more funding for those blighted by the disease.

However, despite the actor’s heartfelt plea, only two of the 18 Senators who sit on the subcommittee on Labour, Health, and Human Services stayed to hear the comedian's testimony, sparking outrage on Twitter. Following his appearance before the subcommittee, Rogen spoke on the MSNBC show Hardball in which the funny man excoriated the Senators for not listening to his statement, saying it was "indicative of a mentality that we find so frustrating. It seems like these people don't care".
The star also told host Chris Mathews how he watched the politicians stand up and leave as he was preparing to give his speech. One member of the subcommittee, Senator Mark Kirby, even tweeted thanks to Rogen for his address, despite the fact he did not stay to listen to it. Rogan subsequently set about shaming the Senators that left via his Twitter account.
