Susanna Defecting To ITV?

Susanna Reid is set to leave 'BBC Breakfast' and defect to ITV to present 'Good Morning Britain', which is being resurrected to replace 'Daybreak', according to reports.

The presenter - who appeared on the last series of 'Strictly Come Dancing' - is reportedly close to signing a huge £1million-a-year contract to present a revival of ITV's breakfast show, which was last on our screens in 1992.

'Daybreak' has struggled since its launch in 2010 and after several overhauls and changes to its presenting line-up, bosses at ITV are now hoping that reviving 'Good Morning Britain' will tempt viewers back.

According to The Sun, current 'Daybreak' presenter Aled Jones will move to a new weekend magazine series and co-host Lorraine Kelly will host her regular 8.30am show.

Susanna Reid is expected to front 'Good Morning Britain' from Monday to Thursday alongside two male presenters and another woman.

"Instead, they are putting all their energies into a revamped Good Morning Britain brand.

“With Susanna Reid riding a wave of popularity, they hope she will be the one to inject some success into ITV breakfast.”

The reported appointment of Susanna comes just a month after she said her loyalties remained with the Beeb.

“My plan is to carry on turning up at BBC Breakfast at 5am and doing what I love,” she said.

Good Morning Britain was launched in 1983 and presented by Anna Ford, David Frost and Angela Rippon.

After the addition of Roland Rat and exercise queen Mad Lizzie, it became a huge hit before ending in 1992.
