'The Americans' Star Matthew Rhys Remembers Growing Up In The Shadow Of Russia-America Cold War

Would You Know If Your Neighbours Were Russian Spies?

Just imagine a world where the distrust of the Russians and how far they might reach casts a shadow over every Westerner's daily life??

Nope, we're not looking at the news headlines. We're talking about a TV series, 'The Americans', set in 1980s America, following the lives of Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Philip (Matthew Rhys) - a seemingly normal, suburban couple living in Washington DC with their children.

Except they're not. Elizabeth and Philip are undercover KGB officers, leading an outwardly inconspicuous life while secretly waiting for their cues from the Russian government.

Just to keep it interesting, they've even got a new and suspicious FBI agent neighbour Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich: Backwash, Warrior) who specialises in cracking down on Russian spies.

In our Exclusive Featurette below, star Matthew Rhys discusses what it felt like as a young Welsh child, growing up in the shadow of the Cold War...

The Americans The Complete First Season is available now on Blu-ray and DVD from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
