Fighter Pilot Takes Selfie While Launching Air-To-Air Missile

Ellen might have most of the world's bankable acting talent in her record-breaking selfie.

The Royal Danish Air Force has an air-to-air missile.

This amazing picture was released by the Air Force, and shows one of their pilots in an F-16 fighter jet letting loose the weapon during a training exercise.

Selfies are increasingly common among fighter pilots according to The Aviationist - and we've posted a few examples on our site already.

But to capture the launch of a missile just before it races ahead of a jet is pretty special - and rare, since missiles like this aren't fired too often.

Another neat sidenote, is that the helmet the pilot is wearing in the picture is amazingly high tech. The JHMCS (Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System) allows a pilot to cue and target weapons against enemy aircraft by pointing their heads at the enemy.

We're told the missile fired by the RDAF was an AIM-9L/M in case you're making notes. Either way, it's one hell of a picture - even though Kevin Spacey didn't make the cut.
