Woman Abandoned In Burger King As A Baby Tries To Find Her Mother Through Facebook

Whereas most baby albums contain photographs of first steps and hand prints, 27-year-old Katheryn Deprill's also contains newspaper cutouts that tell the tale of her first day in the world.

Dubbed the Burger King Baby because she was found abandoned by her mother in the restroom of the fast food restaurant in Allentown, Pennsylvania, she now wants to find her mother.

She posted a photo of herself on Facebook with the message: "Looking for my birth mother. She gave birth to me September 15th, 1986. She abandoned me in the Burger King bathroom only hours old, Allentown, PA. Please help me find her by sharing my post. Maybe she will see this. Thank you."

Her post has now been shared thousands of times. She has also reached out to newspapers and TV stations.

She found her wrapped in a maroon sweatshirt and lying on a plastic bag, her umbilical cord still attached.

"Someone had heard me crying and they notified the staff and they came in and I was lying on the floor," she says.

Despite her less than fortuitous beginning, there is a happy ending: she was put into foster care and then adopted by the same family, Brenda and Carl Hollis.

"I'm not looking to replace my brothers and sisters or my mum and dad, because it was great, we had the best childhood."

Despite a lot of media publicity at the time, police could not locate her birth mother. Now Katheryn, herself a mother of three boys, has launched an appeal on Facebook to try and find her.

Although her family are sceptical that she'll get the response she wants, Katheryn has made her mind up.

"I really want to see her and ask her why, and see if I have any brothers or sisters or anyone that looks like me."

If they do get reunited, there won't be any angry words on her part either. "I want to say thank you, for not throwing me away literally. I just hope that I can see her and maybe give her a hug."
