David Cameron's Most Memorably Monumental Media Fails

David Cameron's Most Memorably Monumental Media Fails

And with those six words, David Cameron ensured that every single minor slip up, gaffe and faux pas he committed on social media would be held up as an example of what a... well, his words, not ours.

This was proven once again when the PM was roundly mocked at the weekend after it transpired his social media team had spent thousands of pounds effectively buying 'Likes' for his Facebook page.

He was called "pretty pathetic", "sad" and even accused of having an "endless ego" - proof, if any were needed - that it's hilarious when a politician messes up on the internet.

So let's have a look at some more...

1. The 'Serious' Photo

Let's start with this recent gem. In an attempt to look all serious and well, just serious, Cameron posted this photo of himself on the phone to Barack Obama...

Oh dear.

2. The Ill-Advised Response

To make matters worse, Cameron attempted to perform some kind of social meta-manoeuvre and get in on the joke himself by posting this a couple of days later...

Suffice to say it bombed...

3. The Wrong IDS

If we go back a little further in time there are thankfully even more social balls-ups.

Check out this tweet...

It is in fact this spoof account. Oops.

4. The Misappropriated Hashtag

Dave hasn't quite got the hang of hashtags either.

Seemingly completely unaware that #welovethenhs was being used to campaign against government cuts, he (or more likely a hapless aide) attached it to the end of this tweet...

Cue backlash...

5. The Answer?

So what can explain all these social media mistakes? Easy, he just has a fundamental misunderstanding of how it works as is beautifully illustrated here...

6. The One He Had Nothing To Do With

To be fair to the PM, sometimes things are beyond his control - other people take it upon themselves to make him look the fool.

7. Everyone Else

And let's face it, he's not the only MP to have made a hash of Twitter...
