Sir Bradley Wiggins To Appear On Radio 4 Show 'The Archers'

Hate The Archers? Then You Won't Want To Hear Wiggins On It

Olympic gold medallist and Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins is gearing up for a cameo role in Radio 4 soap The Archers.

Sir Bradley will head to Ambridge to crown the winner as the villagers hold their own Sport Relief fundraising event next week.

And the four-time gold medallist - a lifelong fan of the show - also encounters Lynda Snell's rusty old bike during his guest appearance in the show.

Wiggins has cameoed on Radio 4's popular radio soap

Team Sky cyclist Wiggins will feature in the show on March 21, the same evening which Sport Relief is celebrated on BBC TV.

He said: "When I was asked to record a Sport Relief special for The Archers, there was no way I could turn it down. I grew up with it on the radio in the house, and it's not every day you get to star in the world's longest-running soap opera.

"Meeting the cast, the writer and the director was an honour and I really hope the story line will raise awareness about Sport Relief's amazing work, and that it shows people that everyone can get involved in Sport Relief this year."

His forthcoming appearance was flagged up in tonight's edition of the rural soap.
