Notorious wallflower Lady Gaga gave a typically understated performance at the SXSW festival in Austin on Thursday night, which saw her being covered in fake vomit.
The singer was appearing on the Doritos #BoldStage while performing the track 'Swine' from her most recent album 'ARTPOP', when a backing dancer stuck her fingers down her throat and ended up covering Gaga in fluorescent green fake vomit while she banged a drum kit.

They then repeated the bizarre stunt later in the song, this time while Gaga writhed on a mechanical bull - an apparent nod to the festival's Texas location - decked out so it resembled a pig.
'Swine' is one of the most experimental songs on Gaga's latest album, featuring lyrics such as "you're just a pig inside a human body" and "squealer, squealer, squeal out you're so disgusting", so the vomit-based performance does make sense, even if it did make us feel a bit queasy.

The singer also performed her 2013 single 'Applause', as well as a country-infused rendition of her hit 'Bad Romance'.
Thankfully for those songs her dancers all managed to hold down their dinners...
