M.I.A. Asks Madonna To Lend Her $16M After Being Sued By NFL For Middle Finger Super Bowl Scandal

'Um, Can I Borrow $16 Million Please, Madonna?'

M.I.A. has tweeted Madonna asking for money after the NFL added an extra $15 million to their lawsuit against her for showing her middle finger during the 2012 Super Bowl half-time show.

The 'Paper Planes' singer made an appearance during Madonna's show to perform their song 'Give Me All Your Luvin', but when the line "I don't give a s***" was censored, M.I.A. stuck up her middle finger at the camera instead, prompting a lawsuit from the NFL.

While they were originally asking for $1.5 million for breach of contract, they are now asking for an additional $15 million in "restitution", claiming: "The figure is based on what advertisers would have paid for ads during this time."

In response to this, M.I.A. tweeted Madonna directly asking if she could help her out financially, saying:

We wouldn't hold our breath on that one if we were you - Madonna was reportedly furious at the time of the incident and later told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show she thought it was an "irrelevant thing to do" and compared her to a "teenager".

She added that she felt the stunt felt "out of place" among "such a feeling of love and good energy and positivity".

M.I.A. herself has previously accused the NFL of making a "scapegoat" out of her, and said they should have been more concerned with the skimpy costumes backing dancers were wearing during the performance.
