Tetris Played On The Side Of A Building, Because It Had To Happen Sometime

Tetris Played On The Side Of A Building Is Unbelievable

Tetris is one of those rare, classic games that is just as punishing and addictive as ever, whether it's played on a Game Boy or a modern iPhone. And, it turns out, a 15-storey skyscraper.

A group of gamers in Philadelphia, US, managed to rig up an enormous version of the game over the weekend played via a net of hundreds of LED lights on the city's famous Cira Centre.

The 100,000 square foot building displayed a simplified version of the game, in which two players competed to get the highest score.

Oddly enough it's not the first game played on the side of a building. One of the organisers - Frank Lee, an associate professor of digital media at Drexel University - already holds the record for the largest game display for a massive version of Pong played on the same building last year.

But the tribute to Pong might just be a new record - and we're sure to see other unique tributes later in the year. Tetris was created by Alexey Pajitnov in 1984, and will celebrate its 30th anniversary on 6 June.
