‘Line Of Duty': Series 3 And 4 Confirmed By BBC Bosses

'Line Of Duty' Series 3 And 4 Confirmed

‘Line Of Duty’ will return for a third and fourth series, BBC executives have confirmed.

Following the phenomenal success of the second season there had been plenty of speculation over when Keeley Hawes and her cast mates would be back on our screens and bosses have now announced that they’ve commissioned two more seasons of the hit show.

Show writer Jed Mercurio has hinted that characters from earlier episodes may return and is promising two “massive” cases for the team to tackle.

"We're profoundly grateful to the fans who not only watched Line Of Duty but also made it such a talking point, and to BBC2 for this rare and immensely flattering opportunity," he said.

"For series three and four, I can promise two explosive new cases for AC-12, new guest stars as police officers investigated for corruption, further twists and turns from the loose ends of series two, and maybe even some surprise reappearances."

BBC2 controller Ben Stephenson is one man who can’t wait to see more episodes of ‘Line Of Duty’ and had no problems deciding to commission more episodes.

"Line Of Duty shows what the reinvestment of money in drama on BBC2 has achieved – unique, powerful and gripping drama that gets the nation talking,” he stated. “Bringing it back for two more years is the easiest decision I have made."
