Teenager Tweets 'Threat' To American Airlines, Instantly Regrets It

Don't Do This On Twitter

A Twitter user has done what most people know they should never do - threaten an airline with a pretend al Qaeda hoax.

'Sarah', who says she's a 14-year-old girl, tweeted at American Airlines on Sunday, saying she was from Afghanistan and her name was Ibrahim.

"I'm part of Al Qaida and on June 1st I'm gonna do something really big bye", she wrote on the social networking site.

American Airlines wrote back saying they were taking the threat seriously, but then later deleted their tweet.

However it was enough to send Sarah into an online meltdown.

The teenager first pleaded that she "was joking and it was my friend not me, take her IP address not mine."

"I was kidding pls don't I'm just a girl pls. and I'm not from Afghanistan," she wrote.

She later pleaded that she was a "white girl" and not a terrorist.

However other Twitter users were not so sympathetic. One wrote: "I hope you go to jail," while another said "She's going down".

She later deleted the tweet.

It is unclear whether the airline is still pursuing the tweet.
