'Britain's Got Talent': Paddy And Nico Talk Golden Buzzer Audition On 'This Morning'

'I Was Going Around Like A Whirling Dervish'

Britain’s Got Talent’ dancer Paddy Jones has discussed how it felt to be the first act to receive the golden buzzer during Saturday night’s series premiere.

Paddy - a 79-year-old retired grandmother - makes up one half of dancing duo Paddy and Nico, who caused quite a stir with their ‘BGT’ audition, which saw Paddy displaying some incredible acrobatic dance moves that would put performers a quarter of her age to shame.

She made an appearance on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Monday, where she revealed how it felt when Amanda Holden hit her golden buzzer, automatically putting them through to the live semi-final stage of the competition.

Paddy told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: “It was really special. To be the first act to get it was really really super.”

The pair’s audition got off to a difficult start, as an unimpressed Simon Cowell hit his buzzer before they had the chance to show off their more impressive moves, which he apologised for when they were finished dancing.

However, Paddy has said that this didn’t throw her off her stride, and in fact she admitted that due to her intense performance she barely had a chance to register the music mogul’s disdain.

She explained: “I didn't see very much because Nico was moving me around... it wasn't like I was stood there and could see the audience and get nervous - I was just going around like a whirling dervish.”

Paddy and Nico received a standing ovation from the judges after their audition

Unfortunately for them, not everyone is as convinced they’d be worthy winners, after they were criticised when it emerged they have already won a similar talent show in Spain.
