Nokia Suspends Lumia 2520 Sales Over Risk Over Electric Shocks

Nokia Suspends Sales Over 'Electric Shock' Charger

Nokia has been forced to suspend sales of its Lumia 2520 tablet in the UK over fears the charger could give users electric shocks.

Sales were also halted in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Russia and Switzerland after the problem was discovered.

Nokia said that around 30,000 users are affected by the problem and said anyone using the AC-300 charger should stop.

Now.

Nokia explained that the problem lies with a plastic cover on the plug, which is prone to coming loose and separating.

If this occurred it would mean parts of the charger would be exposed that could cause an electric shock.

Nokia said that nobody had yet been affected by the problem, but said it was working to solve the issue.

It said:

"While there have been no confirmed consumer incidents related to this potential quality issue, product quality and safety are top priorities at Nokia," said Jo Harlow, EVP Smart Devices. "We apologize to the owners of the Lumia 2520, and we are working with urgency to minimize the inconvenience."
