Peaches Geldof Dead: Family And Friends Attend Funeral At Church Where The Star Married

Peaches' Funeral Takes Place In Kent

Peaches Geldof’s family and friends have gathered at St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence church in the Kent village of Davington for the star’s funeral.

Bob Geldof and his family were joined by many of Peaches’ friends including Nick Grimshaw, Alexa Chung and Jaime Winstone, for the private service at the church next to Sir Bob’s estate, where Peaches spent much of her childhood.

Floral tributes outside the church

A crowd of well-wishers lined the streets leading up to the church, which had the words ‘RIP Peaches’ written on the wall in chalk, and the hearse carrying the coffin arrived in the early afternoon.

The coffin was painted sky blue, with clouds and flowers along the side and a picture of Peaches, her husband, two sons and dogs on the back.

The peaceful Davington church is particularly important to the family and was the location of Peaches’ wedding to musician Tom Cohen in 2012. It is also the place where Bob married Peaches’ mother Paula Yates in 1988 and where her ashes were scattered following her tragic death in 2000.

Mystery still surrounds the mother-of-two’s sudden death, which occurred on 7 April 2014.

Her body was found at the home she shared with her husband and their two young sons, Astala, 23 months, and 11-month-old Phaedra, in Wrotham, Kent, after officers were called "following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman".

Bob Geldof led tributes to his daughter alongside his partner Jeanne Marine and Ms Geldof's sisters Fifi Trixibelle, Pixie and Tiger, saying she was the "wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us".

Kent Police are currently treating the death as "non-suspicious but unexplained” following an inconclusive post-mortem.

The results of toxicology reports are expected in the next few weeks.
