Filmmaker Vanessa Black Tells The Story Of Ukraine's Maidan Protesters, After The Revolution (VIDEO)

Young Filmmaker Shows Story Of Ukraine's Real Protesters

Do the stories of ordinary people get left behind in the day-to-day reporting and the dour political analysis of international war and tragedy?

Filmmaker Vanessa Black, 26, believes they do, and spent a month in Ukraine interviewing the people who took to the Maidan to topple pro-Kremlin president Viktor Yanukovych about their reactions to the revolution, the crisis in Crimea and eastern Ukraine.

The resulting film and photo exhibit in New York, Black hopes, will be "a way to communicate human news, not just what is covered by main network outlets." She has also been named Elite Daily's first Millennial Making A Difference.
