Matt Smith Would 'Happily Come Back' To 'Doctor Who'

Matt Smith Eyes 'Doctor Who' Comeback

Matt Smith has revealed that he would like to return to ‘Doctor Who’ in the future.

He played The Doctor in the sci-fi series for almost four years, before announcing that he was leaving, with the role later being taken over by Peter Capaldi, who made his first appearance at the end of the 2013 Christmas special.

Speaking at Wizard World Con, Matt announced he’d be happy to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor David Tennant - who returned to the series as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations last year - and reprise his role as The Eleventh Doctor in the future, saying: “I'll happily come back for another anniversary.”

He also praised David's brief ‘Doctor Who’ comeback, explaining: “It was a real historic moment for me. I always look at David and go, 'Oh my God. It's 'Doctor Who!'

“David is a great guy and a good friend. It was so fun. Doctors in the same room is just magic, isn't it?"

Matt isn’t the only former star who wants to appear on the show again, as recently Tom Baker - who played the Fourth Doctor - said he would “never rule out” a future appearance in ‘Doctor Who’.

The new series of ‘Doctor Who’ is due to air on the BBC later this year.

Guest stars in future episodes will include ‘Line Of Duty’ actress Keeley Hawes, former ‘Emmerdale’ star Samuel Anderson and Ben Miller, who will be playing an evil villain.
