Lily Allen has unveiled the new music video for the title track from her forthcoming album ‘Sheezus’.

The video for the dubstep-inspired track features a number of colourful close-ups of the singer performing the track, which is the opening song on her new collection.

The lyrics see Lily describing her ongoing musical comeback after taking five years off following the release of her last album ‘It’s Not You, It’s Me’, with lyrics including: “Been here before, so I’m prepared, not gonna lie though, I’m kinda scare".

She name-checks a number of her contemporaries on the song’s chorus including Rihanna, Beyoncé, Katy Perry and Lorde, who Lily says “ain’t one to f*** with when she’s only on her debut”.

She also references Lady Gaga - who recently thanked the popstar for defending her album ‘ARTPOP’ - describing her as a “martyr”.

Lily also belts out some fairly unusual lyrics later on in the track, adding: “It makes me angry, yeah I’m serious. But then again I’m just about to get my period. Period. We all get periods. Every month, girls. That’s what the theory is.”

Thanks for the biology lesson, Lil.

In fact, Lily told Rolling Stone earlier this month that she was worried her song wouldn’t receive radio play because of its lyrics, explaining: “[‘Sheezus’ has] the word ‘period’ in it, which is really offensive to people, even though half the world has to deal with it once a month."

Fans of Lily Allen will be pleased to hear we haven’t got long to wait for her new album, which is released on May 5.
