The Libertines have finally confirmed that they are going to reunite this summer, performing a concert at London’s Hyde Park as part of the British Summer Time Festival.
The much-talked about reunion comes after days of speculation over an interview Pete Doherty reportedly gave to an Israeli magazine.

It has now been confirmed that the band will take to the stage on 5 July 2014, as Carl Barat suggested during a recent chat with Gigslutz.
A number of other not-so-cryptic clues appeared online in the past few days, including a teaser pic on the Festival’s Twitter account, a slightly blurry image of the ‘Up The Bracket’ album cover.
The Libertines haven’t performed live since 2010, when they reunited for Reading And Leeds Festival.
Pete, Carl and their bandmates aren’t the only act taking to the stage on 5 July, as they will be supported by The Pogues, Maximo Park, The Enemy and Spiritualized.
A number of other smaller stages will be set up to play host to acts including Swim Deep, The View and Reverend And The Makers.
The Libertines may not be the only British band reuniting this summer as Oasis’s Liam Gallagher appeared to hint that his band may reform by spelling out the band’s name in a series of tweets yesterday (24 April) evening.
Tickets for The Libertines will go on sale on Friday 2 May 2014 at 9am.
