There's A New Princess Dairies Book, And Mia Is All Grown Up

Brace yourselves Mia Thermopolis' fans, as she's set to make a comeback.

Princess Diaries

Princess Diaries author Meg Cabot has announced she'll be releasing a new novel in the franchise to honour the first book's 15th anniversary next summer.

And in order to cater to fans of the first two books, who've now grown up and entered the terrifying world of work, mortgages and men, Mia will take a skip through the space time continuum to adulthood.

Of course, her struggles won't be entirely relatable to us non-royal types, but Meg has assimilated them to someone we might know.

She hinted that Kate Middleton has inspired Mia's upcoming adventures, more specifically - her wedding. The book will be aptly named 'Royal Wedding, Princess Diaries XI' and Meg revealed on her website: "I've been planning this book for some time. I got the inspiration a few years ago from actual goings-on in a certain royal family of a small European principality (if you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to brush up on your royal family gossip)."

And just like K-Middy, Mia will have to navigate press attention and politics. Meg explains: "In Royal Wedding, Princess Diaries XI, Princess Mia's planned nuptials to longtime love Michael Moscovitz are in jeopardy when the paparazzi uncover a startling secret: Mia has a long lost younger sister.

"Now a scheming politico is using the royal scandal to force Mia's father from the throne, leaving Genovia without a monarch . . . unless Mia can prove to everyone - especially herself - that she's finally fit to rule."

The younger sister in question is named Olivia Grace and will get her own series of spin-off books.

Well, we for one can't wait to read about another royal wedding. We wonder if Anne Hathaway will be up for starring in a movie version...
