Students at the University of Warwick are attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most selfies taken simultaneously across multiple venues.
The students will join participants from France, Germany, Spain and Italy to set the record at 12.30 on Wednesday. The universities taking part across Europe are EFAP Paris, Hochschule Fresenius, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and University of Siena.
Each location will need to have at least 200 people and, as goodie bags are being offered to the first 400 people at Warwick’s Piazza, the record is sure to be smashed.
There are strict guidelines from the Guinness World Record Team, however. All selfies must be taken with a smartphone or tablet and include the full face and neck of the participant. It must feature all or part of the arm used to hold the phone. You are also only allowed to one photo per person.
Recent selfie records include: the most selfies taken in one hour with 355 taken on a Miami beach on 3rd May and Graham Hughes took 201 selfies in 201 countries last year. And who can forget Ellen DeGeneres world record-breaking selfie from the Oscars?
Let’s hope the Warwick students have their best pouts and sultry looks at the ready.
