Premier League Signings 2013/14: Team Of The Season

Who Makes The Premier League Signings XI?

This most remarkable of Premier League seasons will end on Sunday on something of a whimper, despite the drama that has preceded it as far back as the summer transfer window.

What has been noticeable, as opposed to last season, is how many signings have struggled to make a significant impact at their clubs. Think back to who the best buys were last season and Robin van Persie, Christian Benteke and Eden Hazard all stand out. This season, though, the impact of players at their new clubs have significantly subsided.

Some, like Germany international André Schürrle have performed well, if unspectacularly and inconsistently. His compatriot, Mesut Özil, was effervescent for three months before winter arrived. Some of the best deals were concluded by managers whose teams will finish in the bottom half of the table.

Rather than opt for an in-vogue formation, the chosen XI are part of a 3-2-3-2 system...
