Two female students from the University of Georgia posted an advert on Craigslist for a hitman to run them over so they can get out of their final exams.
They posted on the classifieds site: "I am looking for someone to run my friend and I over with their car. We do not want to die, we just want to be injured enough to get out of taking our finals here at UGA. Please do not kill."
The compensation was "hitting two lovely ladies by vehicle with permission".
The post has since been removed.
The two students are not the only ones willing to go to extreme lengths to avoid the perils of the exam hall.
Matthew Francis, a student at Missouri State University, has come to a strange arrangement with his course instructor. If he gets 20,000 retweets of a post on Twitter by Sunday all the students on the senior-level social media course will have their final exam cancelled.
On Wednesday he tweeted “I’m trying to get my teacher on board with a social media challenge. 20,000 retweets = no final #challengeaccepted” So far he has got 3,614. He has got a long way to go in just 3 days but some celebrities have been helping him out. Alanna Masterson, star of ‘The Walking Dead’ retweeted it to her 48,000 followers.
Francis isn’t alone in trying to manipulate social media for extenuating circumstances.
Andrew Muennink is a high school student from Texas. He has to get 15,000 retweets of a photo of him and his art teacher shaking hands over the bet they made so the class do not have to take a final.
Harvard student Eldo Kim took things even further; he arranged a bomb hoax so he could get out of his final exams.
The excuse of “My dog ate my homework” just doesn’t quite cut it nowadays.
