Admit it. The last laugh you had a work wasn't an uplifting moment.
Perhaps you shared a juicy piece of gossip that raised a group smirk. Or you sniggered at your boss during a communal moaning session. Again.
But when was the last time you laughed out loud because you found life in the office genuinely funny?
Our working lives would probably benefit from substituting a few of those misanthropic grins with beaming LOLs.
After all, there's nothing like a group guffaw to make you feel more enthusiastic about working with your team and creating a great product.
As our enlightening HuffPost UK blogger Charlotte Kitley regularly reminds us, there's often no better way to put life into perspective, than having a giggle.
Charlotte describes the atmosphere on her hospital ward - where she and other patients are undergoing chemotherapy - as anything but morbid.
"They say laughter can be the best medicine. There is even research to suggest that a good old chuckle can be as good for you as exercise, lowering blood pressure and boosting the immune system - essential for those undergoing chemotherapy.
"We are all hooked up to machines. However, what you perhaps don't expect is the inspiration, comradeship, hope and laughter that spills from the room.
"We have laughter by the bucket loads."
Whether you're facing a life-changing moment, or simply dealing with the day-to-day anxiety, Charlotte says she has learned to appreciate the important role that laughter plays in alleviating stress.
In an interview with HuffPost UK Lifestyle, one of the Britain's highest office achievers, Roisin Donnelly, chief marketing officer for Procter & Gamble UK, agreed that she regularly uses humour to avoid stress every day.
"I laugh a lot at work and at home," she revealed.
