If you have a cracked tile lurking somewhere in your home that you've been meaning to get round to fixing - but don't know how - then don't worry because help is at hand.

Removing a cracked tile is one of those jobs that it really is worth seeking out expert advice for before embarking on an ill-advised attempt to lever the offending tile away from the wall/floor with a chisel and hammer (not advised!).

We met up with DIY expert Jim Kirkwood, Product and Marketing Director at Worx UK, and he showed us how to complete a few simple jobs that many of us may need doing around the home, he told us: "the key is to have the right tools to do the job effectively, a good multi-purpose tool that can fulfill different jobs is a wise investment".

He added: "It's also probably worth doing your homework if you're a DIY novice because you'll discover tips and tricks that will stop you making mistakes".

Jim showed us how to remove and replace a broken tile in the first in a new series of short DIY videos for HuffPost UK Lifestyle.

How to remove and replace a broken tile:

Tools you'll need: Multi tool - we suggest a Worx Sonicrafter, Sonicrafter accessories: a) Triangular rasp; b) Diamond segment blade; c) Tungsten segment blade, Hammer, Sponge, Grout, Grout squeegee, Adhesive comb, Adhesive, Safety specs and Safety mask.

1. Hammer to break the tile.

2. Remove the grout: Use the diamond segment blade with the Worx Sonicrafter and use the blade to sand away the grout.

3. Remove the tile.

4. Remove the adhesive below the tile: Attach the tungsten triangular rasp to the multi tool and level out and smooth the surface below the tile. You may want to use a mask and/or safety goggles.

5.Clear away debris using a vacuum or dustpan and brush.

6. Keep at the excess adhesive until you have a smooth surface.

7. Using adhesive and adhesive comb. Spread new grout under tile.

8. Place tile on adhesive.

9. Smooth excess adhesive.

10. Once the tile is in, wipe it down with the sponge and wait for it to dry.

11. Get the grout and spread it into the cracks using the grout squeegee.

12. Smooth off the grout with your finger following the line and then wipe with a sponge.

13. Wait to dry for around 4-6 hours.

14. Use a damp sponge to clean the grout.
