'Corrie' Triumphs At The British Soap Awards

The British Soap Awards took place in London last night where ‘Coronation Street’ stole the show, scooping most of the awards and leaving ‘EastEnders’ with just two.

‘Corrie’ stars David Neilson and Julie Hesmondhalgh won a number of awards for their roles as Roy and Hayley Cropper, scooping the Best Actor and Best Actress prizes as well as the gong for Best On-Screen Partnership.

As predicted, Michelle Keegan scooped her sixth Sexiest Female award in a row, though it could be her last as the actress is set to leave ‘Coronation Street’ for good later this month.

Simon Gregson took home the Best Comedy Performance prize for his role as Steve McDonald and the Outstanding Achievement Award was given to Helen Worth.

The shock of the night came as the Best Soap Award winner was announced, as it was revealed that ‘Hollyoaks’ had bagged the prize.

‘Hollyoaks’ star Anna Passey also won the Best Villain prize while her on-screen brother Danny Mac was named Sexiest Male.

The cast of ‘EastEnders’ won just two prizes, with Maddy Hill winning Best Newcomer and Company Manager Carolyn Weinstein winning the Outstanding Achievement (Off-Screen) accolade.
