Rio Ferdinand Considering QPR Move - Transfer News

Which Premier League Club Could Rio Be Off To?

As Rio Ferdinand and Harry Redknapp wind down their careers, the pair could reunite and rekindle the magic of their early days. Ferdinand, released by Manchester United, could prolong his Premier League career at Redknapp's Queens Park Rangers.

It seems an obvious fit, but it would also suit Ferdinand's inevitable relocation to London and sate his competitive appetite, to a certain extent, anyway.

QPR had Nedum Onuoha and Richard Dunne at centre-back for their Championship Play-off final win over Derby at the weekend, and although both are younger than Ferdinand, 36 in November, they would benefit from his leadership qualities and experience. Dunne seems like an ideal foil for Ferdinand, despite the pair's lack of pace.

Ferdinand spent 12 years at United

Redknapp brought Redknapp through to the West Ham United first team in the late 90s and was the manager who watched him leave for Leeds United in a record £18 million deal back in 2000, gaining Rigobert Song as his replacement. Redknapp will doubtless remark at Ferdinand's press conference unveiling how he has "unfinished business" with him.

Louis van Gaal might have hoped he wouldn't have to deal with Anderson, a player the word "makeweight" is most befitting of, yet Fiorentina don't want him so the Brazilian will be back at United for pre-season.

Anderson, unimpressive on loan at La Viola, is out of contract next year and the chances of it being extended are about as remote as a cross from Antonio Valencia. The 26-year-old Brazilian has been at United since 2007.

United are being linked with just about anyone who has played/is playing for Van Gaal, and today it's a £30m double bid for Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie (again) and central defender Bruno Martins Indi.

He looks like Tom Cleverley, but does he play like him?

Raphaël Varane, last seen quivering as Diego Simeone approached him in Lisbon, remains a Chelsea target despite starting in the Champions League final.

The Real Madrid centre-back, brought to the Bernabéu by José Mourinho, lost his place in the side to Pepe this (last?) season, but Mourinho is a big admirer.

When asked why Pepe was demoted back in the 2012-13 season, then-Madrid boss Mourinho replied: "His problem has a name, and that name is Raphaël Varane. That's the whole story."

"I was milking an Englishman's kick when you were five."

First James Milner, now Gareth Barry. Two men ridiculed at the last World Cup, two men coveted before this World Cup. Yes, Barry is wanted by Everton, Arsenal and West Ham United.

David Marshall, certainly the busiest goalkeeper of the 2013-14 Premier League season, is also interesting Arsenal. Łukasz Fabiański should leave over the next few months and Wojciech Szczęsny will be in need of new competition.

Newcastle, especially, love a freebie, be it Loïc Rémy (for a season) or Luuk de Jong, and Alan Pardew is now eyeing free agents Steve Sidwell, 31, and Jack Colback, 24. Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha and Tenerife striker Ayoze Pérez could also head to St James's Park.
