WWDC 2014: Apple Unveils iOS 8 And Mac OS X Yosemite

Apple has unveiled two new operating systems at WWDC 2014: iOS 8 and Mac OS X Yosemite, both offering up new features that include Snapchat-style video messaging and an all-new design for Mac OS X.

Unveiled at Apple's Worldwide Developer conference Mac OS X Yosemite features an all-new design as well as new features including the ability to answer phone calls from your iPhone, on your Mac or MacBook.

iOS 8 on the other hand features the same look but adds new features like being able to choose your own keyboard and send Snapchat-style messages to contacts.

Unveiled to thousands of developers Apple's new operating systems feature a focus on smart home technology as well as fitness and health - presumably in an effort to rival Samsung's own push on health with its new Samsung Galaxy S5.

Both iOS 8 and Mac OS X Yosemite have a release date of September 2014 suggesting that they'll be launched alongside Apple's much-rumoured iPhone 6 and iWatch.

Key features for both iOS 8 and Mac OS X:

Handoff: Start typing an email on your MacBook and then carry on through your iPhone just by swiping up on the lockscreen.

Airdrop: Now you can send files over WiFi from your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad to your Mac or MacBook.

Phone Calls: You can make and answer phone calls from your MacBook or iPad, it'll even work if your iPhone is upstairs or in another room.

SMS: You can now send SMS messages via your MacBook or iMac.

Instant Hotspot: As long as your iPhone is nearby your MacBook will instantly connect to your iPhone's data at the click of a button.
