David Beckham Has To Explain Football To Amazon Forest Local In 'David Beckham Into The Unknown' (PICTURES)

David Beckham Tries To Answer A Strange Question

David Beckham may be used to dining with princes and Pele, but he admitted today that he's finally met someone who asked him a question he had trouble answering.

Becks was presenting footage of his upcoming documentary 'Into the Unknown', which followed the retired footballer and two friends into the heart of the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil.

There, David and his group met a local tribe, where he was asked some strange questions...

"One of the tribesman asked me 'Where do you live? What do you do? What's your forest like?'" he recounted to Michael Palin, with whom he was comparing travel tales.

"I told him I was a soccer player, and he said, 'What's that?'

"That's the first time I've had to explain what to soccer is to anybody.... besides Victoria," he finished.

The documentary shows Beckham given the rare chance to go somewhere where he is completely anonymous - even though he can't resist the chance to join in a beach kickabout with some locals - and experience sleeping in the jungle, where he has to deal with getting comfy in a hammock, and encountering a huge frog and tiny snake - "that was bigger than it looks," he said today.

'David Beckham Into The Unknown' will be on Monday 9 June at 8.30pm on BBC1.
